Credits /////////// Thanks to skalls, RavenMkV, DDMagnaS, Pete, leake2002, Nathan, Allan, darthangus, Akealon. and quite a few others for telling me about the dark side way to do the "Promised Land" quest. Sorry for not mentioning them all, I just listed the people who e-mailed me first, and there would be quite a few names here if I listed everyone. Thanks to bigmick, for a suggestion on "Tips for beating Side Quests" Thanks to Centurion for the ASCII art. /////////////////////////////// B. Tips for beating Side Quests /////////////////////////////// Well, in order to complete the numerous Side Quests in this game, without a guide if you're determined, you'll need 2 things. 1. A Good Persuasion- With your main character a good persuasion can be vital in completing side quests in this game. Especially if you're following the light side. One example would be on the trial in Manaan. If you use force persuasion on the people in the hotel, you'll get dark side points. If you persuade them you can get vital information, without getting dark side points 2. A willingness to explore- Although in this guide I will pretty much always tell you where to find things, if you feel like doing something on your own, you'll need to want to explore. If you explore the entire area of every place you go, and talk to everyone, you'll most likely beat most of the side quests in the game. 3. Jedi Persuasion- I highly suggest, that when you become a jedi, you make one of your first Jedi skills the Jedi Mind Trick. I believe it's actually called, in the game "Affect Mind" then the upgraded version is "Dominate Mind" //////////////////// C. Taris Side Quests //////////////////// You'll be in a city for your entire stay on Taris. So generally there are a lot of side quests to be done. There is some bounty hunting, dueling, and pazaak playing to be done here. //////////////// C1. Dia's Bounty //////////////// Backstory- A woman named Dia has been holed up in her apartment lately because a bounty has been placed on her head. The bounty has been placed by a man named Holdan. Apparently he tried to hit on her, so she defended herself with a vibroblade, giving him a scar. Embarrassed in front of his friends, he went and put a bounty on her head. How to get the quest- Go around unlocking doors, and opening them in the apartment you start in. Besides getting some nice loot, you should find Dia. Talk to her. In the conversation first say you're sorry. Then ask about Holdan. Then ask her what she means. She says she doesn't know if she should trust you. If you have a decent persuade, you can just persuade her into telling you. If that doesn't work you can always threaten her into telling you (NOTE: Threatening her into telling you gives you Dark side points. -Dark Side Way- The dark side way to completing this mission is simple. First off be sure to threaten her into telling you about her situation for some dark side points. Then, when she tells you what's going on collect the bounty on her head by killing her. Then when you get to the Lower City, you can go to the cantina, talk to the hut Jax, and collect the 300-credit bounty. -Neutral Way- There is no neutral way to doing anything in this side quest. -Light Side Way- In the conversation be sure to persuade her into telling you what's going on. Threatening her gives you dark side points. After talking to her more, go to the lower city cantina, and talk to Holdan. You can either persuade him to take off the bounty, or you will have to pay him 200 credits. Either way he'll go get Jax to take the bounty off her head. You'll gain some light side points. Now it's time for one more decision. Go back to Dia's apartment, and tell her the good news. She'll offer you a reward; you get more light side points for refusing. If you take the reward you get an energy projector, but you won't get any more light side points. I suggest if you're using melee weapons you take the rewards. Because with the energy projector, you can upgrade some of your melee weapons. ////////////////////// C2. Invited to a Party ////////////////////// NOTE- There are no Light, or dark side points to be gained here. Backstory- Quite a few Sith are somewhat depressed about being on Taris. It's boring, and they are hated. Maybe if you warm up to one of the Sith you can acquire something valuable. How to get the quest- If you're a male you have to talk to Sabina. She is right outside of the Pazaak area. If you're a female talk to Yun who is near the Twilek dancers. Just keep up a positive conversation, showing support for them, and you'll get invited to a party. It's in the apartments for Upper City North. -Neutral- Check all the apartment rooms in the Upper City North apartments, till you find where they are all partying. They will all get drunk, and pass out when you get there. After they all pass up, look around the room for a backpack. In the backpack, there will be some Sith Armor. Yay! Now you can use it to go to the Lower City. ///////////////// C3. The Duel Ring ///////////////// Yes, dueling in Taris is actually considered a Side quest. Here are some tips for dueling. How to start dueling- When you're in the cantina, in the upper city. Talk to the hut Ajuur. Tell him how you want to start dueling when he asks you. Deadeye Duncan- He's extremely easy. Just attack him with your weapon of choice. He should be knocked out within 1 or 2 hits. Gerlon 2-fingers- He'll attack you with a blaster. I suggest you throw grenades at him, until he get's K.Oed Ice- Ice can be somewhat difficult, you may have to use a medpac here. Same strategy as with Gerlon. Throw frags at her, and maybe 1 poison grenade, until she get's K.Oed. From here I suggest you go out, and do some other quests. Your next fight can be difficult, and you'll probably want some level ups. Marl- This fight can be difficult, because you can't just lob a bunch of grenades, and win. Marl charges at you right away, so any grenades you toss are avoided. My personal way to win is to take adrenalin for strength, and alacrity. Then fight him with melee weapons. Then, if you get to half health or less, run away, and use an advanced medpac. If you really have to, change the gameplay to easy. Twitch- Yes! Another blaster user, so this is an easy fight. Activate an energy shield to help stop blaster fire, and then lob grenades. If you have plasmas try not to use them, save them for Bendak. Should be over soon enough. ////////////////// C4. Rakghoul Serum ////////////////// Backstory- For generations the Rakghoul disease has haunted Taris. You get the disease when Rakghouls attack, and infect you, then you yourself become one of these mutated creatures. Luckily, it seems an antidote has been made though. Now someone has to release it to the public. How to get the quest- Go to the medical center in the Upper City South. Talk to Zelka, ask him about the Rakghoul disease, and offer to help him get the stuff. When you leave though, his apprentice offers you with an alternative. You can give the antidote to the disease to Jax, who will pay you way more, but will make it so the poor won't be able to buy it, without giving up pretty much all of their money. Finding the Serum- First, go to the Undercity. Then when you leave the outcast village go to your right. You'll come across a Sith patrol. I personally like to kill them. (Hint for killing them, just pull back, and lob some grenades, they will easily penetrate their energy shields) Then continue on to the right, and you'll come across a decent sized group of Rakghouls, kill them. After that search the area near them. You should find the corpse of a Sith Soldier, check the body, and he'll have the serum on him! Time to either sell it for major credits, or do some good with it. -Dark Side- Sell it to Jax for 1000 credits in the lower city Cantina (you can persuade him to buy it from you for more). Another way is to sell the serum to Zelka in the medical center, but when you do so, threaten him to give you more credits. You get some light side points, and dark side points for this, but the net change will be in dark side points. I don't suggest doing it this way, since you still barely get anything compared to what Jax gives you. -Neutral- No way to be neutral here. -Light Side- There is quite a bit of good you can do with the serum here. First, look at the "Infected Outcasts" quest for one thing you can do. Also there is a republic soldier who needs the serum (he is just north of the exit to the outcast village). Then go back to the Upper City, and give it to Zelka in the Medical Center. He'll offer to give you 50 credits, and some medpacs. If you decline the rewards, you'll get even more light side points, and a discount on Zelka's items. So if you decline the reward, now is the time to buy some advanced medpacs, and some regular medpacs. ////////////////// C5. Largo's Bounty ////////////////// Backstory- A poor guy named Largo has been late on a payment to Taris crime lord Davik. He needs 200 credits. It's hard for him to go out and raise that money though when there is a bounty on his head. How to get the Quest- Go to the apartments that are in the Upper City North. Unlock, and go in all the doors until you find Largo. Talk to him. -Dark Side- Kill him, then go to the lower city cantina, and collect the bounty on him from Jax. -Neutral- Tell him to hand over his credits, and you won't tell anyone where he is. He'll give you 50. If you don't want any light or dark side points from here, you should just leave him after that. -Light Side- Offer to give him 200 credits to pay off his debt. A good way to do this, is to do the thing I wrote in neutral to get 50 credits. Then pay off those 200 credits after that. This saves you... 50 credits! Yay! /////////////////// C6. Matrik's Bounty /////////////////// Backstory- Matrik used to work for the Exchange(the big Mafia type thing in KOTOR) He began to realize that what he was doing was wrong though, so he ended up turning a lot of the people from the exchange in. Not only did it cost Davik thousands of credits to get "business" going again, but he lost a lot of his best men, and his friends, to jail. Now, wanting revenge he has put an illegal bounty on the head of Matrik. How to get the quest- You can find out about this 2 ways. You can go to the cantina, and ask Jax about the bounty, or you can go to the apartments right near the entrance to the lower city, and talk to Matrik himself. -Dark Side- For some reason I haven't been able to get dark side points out of this. Whenever you kill Matrik you don't get any dark side points. -Neutral- It's easy to get some quick cash, and not have to worry about what side of the force your going to here. Just get Matrix angry with you, or say you're going to collect the bounty on him, and a fight will happen, he's dead in a second. Some ways to get Matrik angry are to say your robbing his house, or say you don't like his attitude. It's simple to just say your going to collect the bounty on him though. -Light Side- For once the light side way of doing things will still earn you cash. If you get into conversation with Matrik, you can suggest ways for him to get out of his jam. The way your supposed to do this, is by helping him fake his death. He'll say he has a plan for this, but he needs help. First, he needs a permacrete detonator. You can get this in the Equipment Emporium, a shop in the Upper City, that's right next to the cantina. After doing that, bring it back to Matrik. He'll set it off, and then flee. Everyone falls for it too, as you can collect the bounty on Matrik from Jax, in the lower city cantina. /////////////////// C7. Bendak's Bounty /////////////////// NOTE- You get dark side points, no matter what for this quest. Backstory- Bendak Starkiller is one of the most famous people on Taris. He was the greatest duelist ever. He's won 100 duels, all of them death matches. Not all of them were legal though. Before he retired, death matches were eventually made illegal; Bendak still continued to fight underground though. Finally, the government put a bounty on his head. How to get the Quest- Go to Jax in the lower city cantina. Ask him about it. Bendak hangs out right near the entrance to the upper city cantina. I never see him until I win a duel. Fighting Bendak- A couple of notes first. 1. This ties in with the side quest "The Duel Ring" 2. The reason it does, is because you can't just attack Bendak in the cantina, or some security system will kill you. You have to fight him in a death match. The only way he'll fight you in a death match though, is if you beat all 5 duelists (Duncan, Gerlon, Ice, Marl Twitch) and become the duelist champion. Here's the strategy for fighting Bendak... First, you may want to be about level 6 or 7 here. A lot of people fight this battle extremely difficult. Grenades are the key though. Stock up on grenades, and constantly fling them at him. Especially some plasma grenades if you have any. Keep those advanced medpacs handy as well. If you still can't beat him, you may want to turn gameplay to "easy" if you're feeling cheap. Also you should activate an energy shield of some sort while fighting him, as it'll help stop some of the blaster fire. After you kill him, you're a living legend. Yay. Umm, on to more important stuff, don't forget to collect your credits from Jax for the bounty, and don't forget to talk to Ajuur too, as you will get some nice credits from him (I suggest trying to persuade him to give you more, if your persuade is good) also you get Bendak's blaster. Be sure to equip it on Carth, and upgrade it along with Carth's Blaster. /////////////////// C8. Selven's Bounty /////////////////// NOTE- There are no light or dark side points to be gainer here. Backstory- The famous assassin Selven has killed a lot of people. At one point, she had a job to kill all of the Ulgo family. No bodyguards, or druids could stop her. No matter what, and she ended up killing the entire Ulgo family. Afterwards, another family demanded that the government put a bounty on her head. So a bounty was put on her head, although, all that have tried to take her out have been killed. How to get the quest- Go to Jax, in the lower city cantina, and ask him about the bounty. -Neutral- Selven is in the apartment near the lower city cantina. It's the one where the Canderous, and Calo Nord cutscenes happen. Go in, and go in all the doors, you'll find Selven eventually. Get into a fight with her. She's pretty easy, after defeating her go to Jax, and get your reward. ///////////////////// C9. Infected Outcasts ///////////////////// Backstory- Whenever anyone in the outcast village gets the Rakghoul disease, they are isolated from the rest of the village in a little pen. Where they eventually become Rakghouls, and kill each other off. How to get the quest- On the map, the pen is south of where you come in to the Outcast village. Open the gate to the pen, and the Outcast healer will tell you of the situation. When you enter the pen 3 of the people with the disease turn into Rakghouls, and attack you, but there are still 2 other people that can be saved. -Dark Side- Go up to the 2 remaining outcasts, and kill them. It's an easy fight. -Neutral- No way to be Neutral here. -Light Side- First you'll need to find the Rakghoul Serum. See "Rakghoul Serum" quest for how to find it. After you find it, simply go back to the pen, and give the 2 outcasts the serum. Yay! /////////////////////// C10. Rukil's Apprentice /////////////////////// Backstory- Some time ago Rukil sent out his apprentice to find something. He won't reveal to you what, because you may be a false savior (whatever the kook is talking about) Anyway, he needs you to find his apprentice, and he'll tell you more. How to get the quest- Talk to Rukil. He's in the Outcast Village, right across from Gendar. Finding the body- When you leave the village, head to the left. Keep heading left, and continue that way. Look for an outcast corpse, that is the dead body, and it has a journal in it. Her body is near loads of Rakghouls, so watch out. ////////////////////// C11. The Promised Land ////////////////////// Backstory- Rukil talks of some place under the Undercity where it's paradise, droid servants, the works. He needs help finding this place. How to get the quest- Complete the Rukil's apprentice quest, then talk to Rukil. Finding the Journals- You already have 1 journal from the body of his apprentice. Now we must go into the sewers to find the other 2. Enter the sewers through the entrance this is to the right of the exit to the village (the place where you found the Rakghoul serum) When you enter, go right, then left, and you'll find one of the journals. To find the next journal, go to the place where Zaalbar was held captive, from there, go inside of the room where he was captive, and look out. Exit, and then go right. When you get to the halls you should see a door across from you, a bit to the left, go in, and on an outcast corpse you'll find the other journal. -Light Side- Now go back to Rukil, and give him everything. Rukil will go to Gendar, and display everything. Then, the entire outcast village leaves, on what is to be a journey that will take weeks or months to the Promised Land. Rukil thanks you, and then they set off. -Neutral- No being neutral here. -Dark Side- Sell your journals to igear in town, and he will DeStRoY them. Rukil will run up to you, and curse you. /////////////////////// D. Dantooine Side Quests /////////////////////// The jedi can't spare anyone to help with the local problems of Dantooine so there are a decent amount of things for you to do there to help the local citizens. /////////////////////// D1. Mandalorian Raiders /////////////////////// Backstory- For a while now, some Mandalorian Raiders have been terrorizing Dantooine. The jedi can't do anything either, since all their efforts are focused towards fighting the Sith. This has made quite a few of the people on Dantooine, quite upset. Maybe you can do something about it. How to get the Quest- There are a couple of people you can talk to, to unlock the quest. The main way seems to be with Jon though. As you try and leave the enclave, a man named Jon will tell his story about how the Mandalorians killed his daughter. He wants them killed for revenge, and so his daughter can rest in peace. All right, here's where the groups of Mandalorians are. Group 1- As soon as you leave the enclave, follow the path. Quite soon after being on the path, you should see some stone markers. Go through there to reach the Matale grounds. From there go to the left. You'll get into a fight with some Duros, and Mandalorians near a speeder. It is a very easy fight. Group 2- They are in the Grove. Right near where Juhani is. Group 3- The final group, that has the leader of all this! I can never find them until I found the Star Map, so do that first. Then, Leader Group- After beating the 3 groups, go back to where you beat group 2. There they are! It's a somewhat difficult battle, as the Shurruk guy is pretty tough with the light sabers. You should beat them though, and you'll be done! Be sure to talk to Jon back at the Enclave. //////////////////// D2. Murdered Settler //////////////////// Backstory- A settler in Dantooine has been killed. There were 2 people near the body. Each accuses the other for the killing. Whodunit? How to get the quest- When your in the grove, fine the bridge, on there is a jedi who says it would be good for a part of your training to help him in this case. Say you will. Part 1 of the Mystery- Well first, the jedi tells you of the situation. Now talk to both suspects, and the droid. Go back to the jedi. Tell him that Rickard is lying, because there couldn't have been sun in his eyes on a cloudy day. Part 2 of the Mystery- Now you'll have to see what the relationships with the victim for each of the suspects. Talk to everyone, and then go back to the jedi. Both of them had a motive to kill them. Use whichever one you want when talking to him. Part 3 of the Mystery- Now time to find out about the blaster that was on the body. Talk to Handon, and Rickard, then the droid. Then tell the Jedi how handon lied about the stolen blaster. Part 4 of the Mystery- Talk to the droid, then tell the Jedi how the blood is not the victim's. The blood is actually Handons. Time to Solve the Case! -Dark Side- Accuse one of the suspects as guilty using their motive. When the other suspect asks to leave, tell them they can for 100 credits. That gets you the dark side points. Although you won't get much EXP this way since they both actually did it. -Neutral- If you accuse one, then let the other one get away without having to pay credits, no force alignment points will be gained, but that is not the best way to do this. The way you should do it, is by accusing both. Using their motives, you'll find out you are correct! No force alignment points gained still, but you get a nice amount of XP. -Light Side- No way to get light side points here //////////////// D3. Dead Settler //////////////// NOTE- Find the body of Casus before solving the Sandral-Matale dispute. Backstory- You find the dead body of Casus, son of Mr. Sandral. It's up to you to deliver the news. How to get the quest- You'll need to find the body to get the quest. Enter the Matale grounds, through the way that is right near the strange ruins. Straight ahead you'll see a tree, and some rocks. Defeat the kath hounds, then search the area to find the body. Now go to the Sandral grounds, then to the Sandral estate, and talk to Mr. Sandral... -Dark Side- First, tell him his son is a kath hound chew toy (heh) Then demand more money for his journal. So evil! -Neutral- Tell him what happened to his son politely, then when he asks for the journal, give it to him, and accept the reward. -Light Side- Tell him what happened to his son politely, then when he asks for the journal, give it up, and say you don't want the reward. /////////////////////// D4. Sandral-Matale Feud /////////////////////// Backstory- The Sandral, and Matale family have always been... feuding. Now it could have its bloody end soon. Shen, Mr. Matale's son is missing. He blames the Sandrals. You better get Shen back quick. How to get the quest- After completing all 3 of your tasks for becoming a jedi talk to the council. You'll get your quest then. First off, for some quick Dark side points, do this. Go to the Matale home, and talk to Mr. Matale, in the end, when he offers you a bribe, demand 2000 credits, and you'll get dark side points. Finding Shen- Go to the Sandral estate, and go inside. After talking to Mr. Sandral, you'll talk to Rahasia, his daughter. She'll tell you how Shen is kidnapped there, and will give you a key so you can enter the side of the house. Leave, and then go to the side of the house. Before going in, make sure you have someone who has a good security. When you get inside go right, around the corner, then to the first door on the left. It has a mine in front of it. Unlock the door with your person who is good with security. Talk to Shen, but he refuses to leave without Rahasia, since she will be under her father's wrath when Shen escapes. Go back, and talk to Rahasia, and tell her. She says to meet her outside with Shen. Now go back to Shen, when you talk to him, and tell him you'll end up outside with Rahasia. That's where the fun starts. Matale, and Sandral both show up with war droids. Now, as far as I know there are 4 main things that can happen here, I will explain how to get them to happen, and what force alignment you get. Get Rahasia, and Shen to break up- When the talking starts, try and convince Shen to break up with Rahasia. It should work. You'll get dark side points. Have them Stay together, and the parents let them- This one is hard. You'll need a good persuasion. First try and break up the fight, then convince Mr. Sandral, and Matale to let them stay together using Persuade. This is the happiest ending, and the best one for light side people. As you will get light side points here. Shen, and Rahasia run away to enclave- This one happens for me, if I try and break up the fight, but fail in persuading the parents to let them be together. Then they run away together, to the enclave. Light side points. Have them all Kill each other- This is the best ending for the evil, dark side people. First try and coax them into fighting, then lie to Mr. Sandral, by saying the Matales killed Casus! Then everyone dies, and you'll have to fight the war droids, but it's an easy battle. Like I said, dark side points. (There is a lot of variety in this quest, so there could be some stuff I'm missing, feel free to e-mail me at Icehawkdude@hotmail.com) if you know something I don't) ///////////////////// D5. Missing Companion ///////////////////// Backstory- A woman is missing her droid, VERY MUCH. He was kidnapped by some bad people, and she wants him found. How to get quest- Talk to Elise, she is by a speeder, right outside of the Enclave. Finding the droid- He is on the Sandral grounds, right near the crystal cave. He's being attack by some kath hounds, so kill them, then talk to him. After talking to him, he'll give you some options on whether to kill him or not... -Dark Side- First, when the droid says to kill him. Say you will, but you'll tell Elise he's still alive. He'll call you a monster, but this is the only way to kill him, while getting dark side points. After that, go to Elise, you have a few options. You can tell her the droid is destroyed, she'll run to the enclave. Follow her, she's in one of those dorm type rooms, next door to the Pazaak player. Looks like she found another man. She will thank you, but you can still get dark side points, despite your nefarious plan going wrong, by demanding a reward. The more evil way is to tell Elise that the droid is still out there. A bonus is you'll receive a scolding from your party members! -Neutral- You can kill the droid, like he says, then tell Elise he's destroyed. Follow her into the enclave, up into the dorm rooms, right next to the Pazaak player, and keep up a polite conversation. Another way is to convince the droid to go back to it's owner, then go back to Elise, and talk to her. She's quite happy. -Light Side- No light side points to be gained in this quest.
